Our Story
Even though we both went to the University of Wisconsin-Madison at the same time, our story didn't begin until we met in New York City in 2018. Sophie had already lived there for a couple of years when Aakash moved after a brief stint in Houston. Shortly after getting to the city, Aakash reached out to some old college friends to hang out. One of those friends just so happened to be Sophie’s roommate. Aakash and Sophie met and the rest is history!
….just kidding. For the first year and a half of knowing one another, Sophie dated other people and Aakash…didn’t. The two of us and our mutual friends spent time together gallivanting around the city and going out on the weekends. In November 2019, Sophie was newly single and went to a concert with Aakash and our friends. For whatever reason, that night changed things for the two of us and Aakash finally built up the courage to ask Sophie out.
After a couple of interesting first dates planned by Aakash (including not one, but TWO separate workout class dates solely because he "only had 2 weeks to get the free classes") the two of us continued to become closer. After a few months of dating, the pandemic hit and the two of us were stuck living and working from Aakash's 600 sq. ft. apartment for months. Yes, this included Sophie having to take work calls from the bathroom.
To get through the quarantine months and escape the city, we occasionally took road trips up to Hudson, NY and the Catskills. This is when we fell in love with the area and the reason for why chose it for our wedding location. Now, more than 4 years later, we live together in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn with our cavapoo, Sunny. We can't wait to celebrate with all of our closest family members and friends in September 2024!
